Savory Kei’s By Chef Khrys

Origin

Savory Kei’s by Chef Khrys was born from heartbreak and transformed through healing — a culinary redemption inspired by love, loss, and renewal. In the kitchen, pain found purpose, and flavor became a form of expression. Each dish is crafted with heart and intention, celebrating the beauty that can emerge from life’s most tender moments.

Mission

At Savory Kei’s, food is more than sustenance — it’s a story of resilience, transformation, and love reclaimed. Every plate invites you to taste the journey from sorrow to sweetness, from loss to light, and to experience how healing can be found — one bite at a time.

Meet Chef Khrys

My name is Cryshenda Riley, but most people know me as Khrys. My journey into the culinary world didn’t start in a restaurant or on a TV show—it started in my own kitchen, I found joy in feeding my children, especially when I watched my son “hum” while eating, then fall asleep at the table with a full belly and a peaceful smile. It was in those quiet moments I realized cooking was more than just preparing meals—it was love in motion. I believe, with all my heart, that when I cook, I am walking in God’s purpose for my life.

I am a self-taught chef, driven by passion and a deep thirst for knowledge. But my path hasn’t been easy. One of the first places I found peace and direction was at K&K Soulfood. That kitchen became more than a workplace—it became a sanctuary. Food had always been a passion of mine, but at K&K, I began to truly understand it as a language—a way to heal, connect, and create. I threw myself into the craft, experimenting, learning, and growing.

In 2017, my journey took an unexpected leap—from the kitchen to the television screen. I was invited to film The Church Ladies Cooking Show, and the experience was surreal. Every dish I prepared on that set carried a story: a story of resilience, redemption, and faith. But just as life was gaining momentum, tragedy struck. In October 2019, I lost someone very close to me. The grief was overwhelming. I felt broken, defeated, and I gave up on everything I loved. I stopped cooking. I stopped believing. For a while, I was lost. But life has a way of opening new doors—even when you think all of them have closed. Through that heartbreak, something powerful was born. I became the Founder and Owner of Savory Kei’s by Chef Khrys—a dream rooted in pain but fueled by purpose. I got back in the kitchen, back to my calling. And the doors kept opening. I had the incredible opportunity to film a movie and appear in a gospel music video - stepping into a completely new creative space. My life is proof that the story doesn’t end at your lowest point. It keeps unfolding—and it can get better, richer, and more meaningful. My story is not unique in its struggles—but I hope it becomes unique in its outcome. I hope it inspires someone else to keep going.

With love and strength,
Chef Khrys Riley
